Evidence Shows This Common Beverage Can Help Fight Cancer

What you may or may not know is what you drink can have a pretty significant affect on your health.

What researchers have found is there’s a particular drink, an ancient beverage, that’s quite adept at helping improve health in a really big way.

The beverage in question is green tea.

The reason green tea is receiving so much love from researchers is because of a group of flavonoids called catechins.

In particular is the catechin known as Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG). EGCG is an antioxidant, and as you know antioxidants have the extraordinary power to fight free radicals and resist cancer.

Now in terms of antioxidant power it’s believed that EGCG is anywhere from 25 to 100 times more powerful than other antioxidants like Vitamins C and E.

And what makes green tea so special is it has some of the highest concentrations of EGCG in the world.

Which makes green tea of one of the most potent natural cancer fighters known to man.

Dr. Mercola writes:

In a study examining the effects of green tea or green tea components on the prevention and progression of ovarian cancer cells, scientists found “significant associations” between green tea consumption and decreased incidences of ovarian cancer, as well as more positive prognoses due to green tea’s potential to generate the effects of cisplatin, a chemotherapeutic agent.1 Another study reported its potential to protect against breast cancer.2

Scientists reported that the known chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic properties in green tea was prompting further investigation, due to the evidence of possible preventive biological effects of tea polyphenols on human cancer cells.3

One interesting study showed a notable link between green tea consumption and an improvement in bladder dysfunction due to hormone deficiency in post-menopausal women.4 The research attributed this to the catechin content, with its strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

And the truth is there’s quite more evidence to show how good green-tea is for fighting cancer.

For instance one study was able to show that women who drank green tea on a regular basis were up to 22% less likely to develop the most common cancer known to women, breast cancer.

And another study indicated when men drank green tea they had a 48% reduction in the likelihood they would develop the most prevalent  mens’ cancer, prostate cancer. That’s a remarkable reduction of nearly half.

More astonishing? In a study of 69,710 Chinese it was shown that green tea consumption has helped to reduce colo-rectal cancers by as much a 57%!

These numbers are nothing to sneeze at.

And more amazing is how EGCG doesn’t just stop there.

In fact the antioxidants is believed to help with:

  • Weight loss
  • Brain function improvement
  • Cardiovascular disease reduction
  • Impeding the development of Type-II diabetes

And much more.

The few caveats to green tea consumption is it should always be consumed separate from added sugar. And, the higher quality the better, as lower quality green tea has high e=levels of dangerous fluoride.

If you are going to add green tea to your diet one of the first things you should do is make sure you have a healthy gut.

A healthy gut allows you to experience the best of health, as well as extract the nutrients from green tea.
