How to Cure Acne the Natural Way

Having acne is a miserable experience, and it is difficult finding a treatment that works. Many adolescents suffer the embarrassment and self-consciousness that accompanies acne, but a surprising number of adults suffer, as well. If you, or someone close to you, deal with acne, you may want to defer using toxic drugs and try a natural approach.

Many people have found turmeric is the solution to pimple problems. Turmeric is popular as a spice used in cooking, but it has also been used as medicine for thousands of years. The turmeric root has powerful anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties.

If you make a turmeric paste and apply it to acne or acne-prone areas of your face and body, the mask will destroy the bacteria that leads to inflammation, as well as existing inflammation. It also removes excessive oil from the skin.

Basic turmeric mask recipe:

Combine four tablespoons of turmeric powder, one tablespoon of milk, and four tablespoons of raw honey. Stir this mix in a bowl until it forms a smooth paste.

Keep the mix refrigerated.

Tumeric and oil mask recipe:

You can also use eight tablespoons of turmeric powder and five tablespoons of olive oil or sesame oil. Mix these in a bowl until they form a smooth paste

Before applying the mask, step in a hot shower to soften your skin. Use a mild soap or shower gel; do not use a gel that is medicated or contains either glycerin or antibacterial cleanser, as this will dry out the sensitive facial skin.

While you are in the shower, take a washcloth and dip it in hot water. Apply the hot wash cloth directly on areas with acne for at least five minutes. Pat your skin dry.

Apply the mask to your skin with your fingertips, and gently massage it into your pores for about 10 minutes. Leave it on to dry overnight.

Use old sheets and pajamas, or sleep on a soft towel, as turmeric does stain. In the morning, rinse off the dried paste. You skin will have a yellowish tint, but that is easily removed with a cotton ball dipped in a mild facial toner.
